Osun Assembly Exposes Alleged Illegal Payment of N50bn to Sacked APC Local Government Officials

The Osun State Assembly disclosed that N50 billion was unlawfully disbursed to sacked APC Local Government chairmen in Osun State. The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Assembly, Olamiju Tiamiyu, revealed that the money was channeled through United Bank for Africa (UBA) to aid the Ministry of Blue Economy led by Gboyega Oyetola.

Allegations include N25 million paid to 30 chairmen, N12 million to vice chairmen, N10 million to 332 councillors, and N130 million to select traditional rulers. Additionally, N13 billion was reportedly paid as legal fees to lawyers representing the chairmen and councillors.

The APC has denied the claims, with Kola Olabisi, the Director of Media and Information for the Osun State chapter, dismissing the allegations as fabrications and malicious attempts to distract from the state government's failures. UBA declined to comment due to the ongoing legal proceedings.
