Okonkwo Accuses Obi of Defamation Over Party Payments

A defamation dispute has arisen as Okonkwo released chats alleging that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate, was involved in collecting money from aspirants seeking party tickets. Okonkwo claims that a house representative aspirant paid N10 million and a senatorial aspirant paid N20 million during the party's candidate selection process.

He asserts that these claims are based on information provided by Obunik Ohaegbu, who allegedly supplied details and receipts related to these payments. Okonkwo shared screenshots of conversations that took place with Ohaegbu, who insists that Obi was aware of decisions made during the primary election process.

Ohaegbu informed party officials justifying the payments, raising concerns about the conduct of the nomination exercise in Anambra State. Okonkwo maintains that he acted within his obligations as a citizen and legal practitioner.

Obi's legal team has issued a demand for N5 billion in damages and a public apology, threatening further legal action. Okonkwo has dismissed this demand and stated that he will review the document before proceeding with legal actions.
