Nigerian Soldiers Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Arms Racketeering

A Special Court Martial in Maiduguri has sentenced four Nigerian soldiers to life imprisonment for involvement in an arms and ammunition racketeering scheme and aiding the enemy. The court convicted Sgt Rapheal Ameh, Sgt Ejiga Musa, and LCpl Patrick Ocheje to life imprisonment, while Cpl Omitoye Rufus received a 15-year sentence.

The soldiers pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to theft, unlawful dealing of ammunition, and aiding the enemy, violating the Armed Forces Act. The court revealed that the convicted soldiers conspired with others to pilfer ammunition from the Division's arm store.
