NAAPE Partners with NDLEA to Combat Drug Trafficking

The National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) has pledged to collaborate with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to combat illicit drug trafficking and substance abuse within Nigeria's aviation sector. This commitment was made during a courtesy visit by NAAPE President Captain Bunmi Gindeh to NDLEA Chairman Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.) in Abuja.

Gindeh emphasized the critical role aviation professionals play in ensuring aviation safety and combating narcotics, stating that the fight against drugs is intertwined with aviation safety. He highlighted that licensed pilots and maintenance engineers are positioned at key points in the aviation system, making them vital in identifying suspicious activities.

Gindeh praised the NDLEA's intensified efforts against drug trafficking and substance abuse, which include disrupting trafficking networks and reducing drug demand among youth. Marwa acknowledged NAAPE's proactive stance and described aviation workers as essential gatekeepers in the fight against drug trafficking, advocating for deeper partnerships to enhance prevention efforts.
