NAF Airstrike Neutralizes ISWAP Commander in Borno

On Saturday, 8 August 2026, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) executed a precision airstrike in Borno State, resulting in the neutralization of nine fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), including a key commander, Abu Khalid Al Muhajir. This operation was based on credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected terrorists within the Sambisa Forest area.

The NAF utilized a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) for persistent Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), which allowed for the identification and tracking of the terrorists. Following confirmation of the target, the NAF aircraft engaged the location, leading to significant damage and casualties among the terrorists.
