Nigerian Air Force Recovers Cockpit Voice Recorder from Crash

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully recovered an intact Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) from the ATR-42 aircraft crash site in Igbokoda, Ondo State. Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, reported that technical teams from the NAF and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) confirmed the CVR's condition.

Additionally, part of the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) has been retrieved, with ongoing operations to locate and recover the remaining wreckage. Recovery efforts have also included the retrieval of additional aircraft wreckage, engine components, and human remains.

Ejodame noted that operations are being conducted in challenging swamp terrain, emphasizing the careful handling of human remains for proper identification by the Directorate of Identification and Classification (DIC). The NAF is maintaining communication with the victims' families and addressing environmental concerns raised by the local community as part of their response to the accident.
