NAFDAC Destroys N939 Million Worth of Fake Drugs in Anambra

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) conducted an operation in Awka, Anambra State, where it destroyed fake and unwholesome drugs valued at N939 million. This exercise, supervised by NAFDAC officials, is part of the agency's regulatory efforts to eliminate unsafe, expired, and falsified products circulating in the market, which pose serious health risks to consumers, including treatment failure and even death.

NAFDAC's Director General, Mojisola Adeyeye, and the Regional Director, Martin Iluyomade, reiterated the agency's zero-tolerance stance against offenders and highlighted the importance of enforcing actions against counterfeit and substandard products. The agency's ongoing operations are driven by intelligence and routine surveillance, targeting the southeastern region of Nigeria.

NAFDAC has urged Nigerians to ensure that products have valid NAFDAC registration numbers and to report any suspicious items, as the agency intensifies its fight against counterfeit and illicit drugs nationwide.
