NAFDAC Seals 18 Warehouses in Niger Over Expired Products

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed 18 warehouses in Niger State following the uncovering of large quantities of expired food products worth N100 million. This enforcement operation is part of a broader nationwide clampdown on substandard and expired products.

NAFDAC officials described the discovery as a serious threat to public health and safety, as the warehouses were allegedly storing and distributing expired consumables to unsuspecting members of the public. The agency noted that some items were repackaged and relabeled to conceal their expired status before being returned to the market.

Investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for these violations, and NAFDAC has warned that individuals found culpable will face strict legal consequences. The agency also urged consumers to remain vigilant by checking expiration dates on products and reporting any suspicious goods to the nearest authorities, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the health of Nigerians.
