NAFDAC Seals 18 Warehouses Over Expired Food Products

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed 18 warehouses in Bida, Niger State, due to the discovery of large quantities of expired food and beverage products worth N100 million. This enforcement action was initiated following intelligence reports indicating that expired consumer goods were being stored for distribution in the area.

The warehouses, located around Ndazabo, White House, along Minna Road, behind Bida Modern Market, were sealed as part of NAFDAC's commitment to safeguarding public health. The agency's enforcement director emphasized the serious health risks posed by the sale and consumption of expired products, which can lead to food poisoning and long-term health complications.

NAFDAC has advised the public to check expiration dates when purchasing products and to report any suspicious storage facilities to the nearest agency office. This operation is part of NAFDAC's routine enforcement raids aimed at removing expired, counterfeit, and substandard products from circulation, similar to recent seizures of unsafe consumables across Nigeria.
