NAFDAC Seals 18 Warehouses Over Expired Food Products

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed 18 warehouses in Bida, Niger State, following the discovery of a significant quantity of expired food and beverage products. The agency's media consultant, Mr.

Olusayo Akintola, reported that the warehouses, located around Ndazabo White House along Minna Road behind Bida Modern Market, were shut down after an investigation by NAFDAC's enforcement team acted on credible intelligence. The operation recovered expired non-alcoholic beverages, dairy milk, bottled water, and pasta, with a total value of N100 million.

Among the items were 80,000 packets of expired non-alcoholic drinks, 5,000 packets of dairy milk, 16,000 packets of bottled water, and 28 cartons of assorted pasta. The investigation also revealed counterfeit Goya oil found in a supermarket linked to the warehouses.

Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo, the managing director of the company, was invited for questioning and admitted ownership of the expired products. NAFDAC's investigation is ongoing, with appropriate regulatory sanctions to be imposed.
