ADC Accuses FG of Judicial Manipulation in Gombe Case

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that the Federal Government is attempting to manipulate the judiciary in a case involving Nafiu Gombe. The party, represented by Bolaji Abdullahi, claimed that certain forces within the government are pressuring Justice Emeka Nwite to recuse himself from the case, which is set for a hearing on May 8, 2026.

This development comes despite the Supreme Court's judgment not yet being formally transmitted to the trial court. The ADC described the situation as an unusual haste that appears to be part of a broader strategy to undermine judicial integrity and compromise the independence of the judiciary.

They warned that such actions represent a direct attack on the constitutional role of the judiciary as the last hope for the common man. The ADC urged the National Judicial Council and the Chief Justice of Nigeria to resist these pressures and called on international diplomatic missions in Nigeria to closely monitor the situation, emphasizing that manipulation of the court for partisan purposes threatens Nigeria's democratic system.
