APC and FG Accused of Pressuring FCT Court for ADC Favor

Abdullahi Ibrahim Ismael, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from Nasarawa State, alleged that the Federal Government and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are exerting pressure on Justice Peter Lifu of the FCT High Court to favor Nafi’u Bala in a leadership crisis within the ADC. Ismael made these allegations during a press briefing on Wednesday in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

He referenced support for Bala from notable figures such as former Senate President David Mark and former Osun Governor Rauf Aregbesola, while asserting that the Supreme Court had previously ruled in favor of the ADC. Ismael criticized Bala's case as weak, claiming it does not align with the Electoral Act, and suggested that the APC is attempting to undermine opposition parties ahead of the 2027 presidential elections.

He warned that any ruling favoring Bala would threaten democracy in Nigeria, echoing sentiments from a group known as the Grassroot Mobil Network, which expressed distrust in the FCT High Court.
