NAHCON Investigates Tour Operators Over Hajj Exploitation

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) is conducting an investigation into tour operators accused of exploiting unsuspecting pilgrims during the Hajj. Ismail Abba Yusuf, the chairman of NAHCON, directed the commission to collaborate with the Central Security Committee to identify operators involved in these allegations.

If found guilty, these operators may face sanctions, including the potential withdrawal of their operating licenses. This investigation is part of NAHCON's efforts to ensure strict compliance with Hajj operational guidelines to protect the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims.

Additionally, NAHCON has reaffirmed its commitment to food safety and the welfare of pilgrims, announcing the withdrawal of meals served on May 27 that did not meet Saudi approval for handling and packaging standards. The commission is working with the Saudi Health Authority to provide alternative refreshments and has commenced refunds for affected pilgrims, assuring them of continued commitment to their welfare throughout the Hajj exercise.
