NANS Supports NLC and NUT in Protests for Abducted Students

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), under the leadership of President Akintey Babatunde, has declared its support for the protests organized by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) aimed at rescuing abducted students and teachers across the country. In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, Babatunde highlighted the growing concern for the safety of students and educational workers following recent abductions.

He reaffirmed NANS's commitment to mobilizing support for efforts to secure the safe return of those kidnapped. Babatunde stressed that the association's primary focus remains on the welfare of the victims rather than political considerations, urging stakeholders to confront the challenges posed by insecurity in schools.

The statement comes amid heightened concerns following a recent incident in Oyo State, which has sparked nationwide outrage and calls for stronger measures to protect educational institutions.
