NANS Plans Protest Over Abduction of 42 Borno Students

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has announced plans to stage a protest from June 5 to June 7, 2026, in response to the abduction of 42 students from Government Day Secondary School in Mussa, Askira Uba Local Government Area, Borno State. The protest will take place simultaneously across five northeastern states: Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, and Taraba.

The protest is intended to draw national attention to the plight of the abducted students and to express solidarity with their families. Lukman Yusuf, the Chief Staff Zonal Coordinator, stated that the demonstration aims to call on the federal government and relevant security agencies to intensify efforts for the immediate rescue of the students.

NANS also urged the federal government to strengthen security around educational institutions nationwide to ensure the safety of students. Comrade Muazu Hina emphasized the need for collective action to demand the safe return of the students and improve protections for learners across the country.
