NANS Proposes ₦200 Dues for NYSC Mobilization

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has proposed that students seeking mobilization for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) may need to pay an annual dues of ₦200. NANS National President Akinteye Babatunde announced this in a Facebook post, indicating that proof of payment could become a requirement for camp mobilization.

Babatunde explained that the organization plans to collect dues directly from students, rather than through student union governments, to ensure financial independence and effective representation. He noted that the dues are minimal and intended to support various NANS structures.

Babatunde highlighted that many student union governments have struggled to manage their dues, with some institutions only releasing a fraction of collected funds. He cited the University of Benin as an example where the management hindered the student union's access to dues after opposing a fee increase.

He emphasized that financial contributions from students are essential for NANS to operate effectively.
