NYSC Mandates NERD Clearance for Corps Mobilization

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) issued a public notice on Monday, warning prospective corps members that they will not be mobilized for national service without obtaining clearance from the National Electronic Registration Database (NERD). The NYSC emphasized that NERD clearance is now a mandatory requirement for all prospective corps members (PCMs) seeking participation in the national service programme.

The notice urged PCMs to complete the verification process early to avoid delays in their mobilisation, stating, “Without NERD clearance, no NYSC. Get your NERD clearance early.” The NYSC's directive indicates a stricter verification procedure ahead of the mobilisation for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ service year.

Additionally, the NYSC recently advised prospective corps members against travelling to orientation camps at night for safety reasons. These advisories reflect the NYSC's commitment to strengthening the integrity of its mobilisation process and ensuring the safety of corps members amid ongoing security concerns in Nigeria.
