NANS Reports Duplicate NELFUND Payments, Advises Students

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) announced that certain beneficiaries of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) received duplicate payments for their June and July upkeep allowances. This issue was attributed to a glitch in the NIP payment platform, as stated by NANS National President Akinteye Babatunde on X.

He urged those who received the extra payments to save the funds, indicating they could be used for future upkeep payments. Despite the reports of duplicate payments, there was no immediate confirmation from NELFUND regarding whether students would need to refund the excess amounts or if they would be deducted from future allowances.

NANS confirmed that the disbursement of June and July allowances had begun, with Babatunde assuring that all outstanding backlogs would be cleared. He encouraged beneficiaries who had not yet received their payments to remain patient, as disbursements were being processed in batches.

This development follows previous complaints from students about delays in receiving their monthly allowances under the Federal Government’s student loan scheme.
