Zakka Yakubu Declares Gubernatorial Intent for 2027

Zakka Yakubu, the former Accountant General of Nasarawa State, has officially declared his intention to run for the governorship in the 2027 general elections. Yakubu, a member of the Progressive Congress, is expected to join the gubernatorial primary slate on May 21, alongside current Governor Abdullahi Sule.

He expressed his decision to enter the race in response to increasing calls for people-oriented leadership capable of alleviating poverty. Yakubu emphasized the need for accountability in managing state resources, particularly in light of the N18 billion monthly revenue from fuel subsidies, which he argues has not translated into improved living conditions for the citizens.

He pledged to ensure that the state's solid mineral resources directly benefit the people and criticized the foreign dominance over these resources. Yakubu's declaration was supported by various political stakeholders during a rally in Akwanga, where he was praised for his compassionate leadership and commitment to grassroots mobilization.
