Nasarawa Governor Abdullahi Sule Sacks Six Commissioners

On Tuesday, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State announced the dismissal of six commissioners as part of a minor cabinet reshuffle intended to strengthen his administration. The announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Labaran Magaji, during a briefing after the State Executive Council meeting in Lafia.

The affected commissioners were responsible for the Ministries of Works, Women Affairs, Information, Lands, Science and Technology, and Security and Sundry Matters. Magaji clarified that the decision was not indicative of poor performance, acknowledging the commitment and hard work of the commissioners.

The reshuffle aims to introduce fresh energy and ideas into the administration as it approaches the end of its term. He also mentioned that the former commissioners would remain part of the government and could be reassigned in the future.

Additionally, the council discussed strategies to enhance the state’s revenue through investments in the lithium sector, following the inauguration of a major lithium processing plant in Nasarawa by President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima.
