Nasarawa Group Demands Political Representation for Eggon

The Aegi Eggon Unity Forum, led by Chairman Yahaya Abdullahi and Secretary Audu Bako, has publicly condemned the political marginalization of the Eggon community in Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State. In a press statement released on Sunday, they highlighted that for the past 15 years, key political positions have predominantly been held by individuals from the Chiroma, Gayam, and Makama Zanwa wards, while the Eggon people from the Agyaragu, Tofa, Wakwa, and Akurba wards have been neglected.

The forum is appealing for a candidate from the Eggon community to occupy the Lafia Central seat in the State House of Assembly in the upcoming 2027 elections, arguing that this would compensate for years of exclusion and ensure equitable representation. They also called on Governor Abdullahi Sule and other stakeholders to support their demand for fair representation to sustain democracy in the state.
