Nasarawa North Forum Backs Eggon for Governorship Race

The Nasarawa North Political Consult Forum convened for its fourth meeting on April 12, 2026, in Akwanga, where they issued a communique endorsing the Eggon ethnic group for the governorship position in the forthcoming 2026 senatorial bye-election and the 2027 general elections. The meeting was chaired by Sen.

John Danboyi, with Prof. Salih Alizaga serving as the secretary.

The forum expressed concerns regarding the persistent disunity within the zone, which has been exacerbated by growing mistrust among stakeholders and a lack of unity that has diminished political bargaining power at both state and national levels. They highlighted the need for renewed commitment to unity and trust-building among stakeholders in Nasarawa North.

The forum resolved to allow the Nasarawa Eggon local government area to complete the tenure of the late Senator Godiya Akwashiki and to support candidates from the zone for the 2027 general elections.
