Nasarawa LP Chair Ombugu Denies Suspension Claims

Ombugu, the Nasarawa State Chairman of the Labour Party, held a press briefing on Monday in Lafia, where he dismissed claims of his suspension and warned against a so-called caretaker committee operating in the state. He described these claims as false and asserted that he remains the duly recognized leader of the party in Nasarawa.

Ombugu stated that individuals claiming to be part of a caretaker committee are not recognized by the party's national leadership and suggested that these allegations are motivated by attempts to defraud unsuspecting political aspirants ahead of the party primaries. He emphasized that the Labour Party's constitution does not recognize caretaker committees and questioned the legitimacy of the group.

Ombugu called on security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army, to investigate the activities of the alleged committee. He expressed confidence in the party's unity and readiness for the 2027 general elections, despite current challenges.
