Labour Party Chairman Ombugu Dismisses Suspension Rumors

Alexand Ombugu, the Nasarawa State chairman of the Labour Party, held a press briefing in Lafia where he rejected rumors regarding his suspension from the party. He clarified that the claims originated from a caretaker committee that lacks recognition from the national leadership of the Labour Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Ombugu expressed concern over the motivations behind the rumors, suggesting they aimed to defraud political aspirants within the party. He noted that the emergence of the caretaker committee did not follow the constitutional due process of the party.

Ombugu called on security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army, to investigate the activities of the unrecognized committee to protect residents from deception. He reassured party members to stay calm and focused on the upcoming 2027 elections, expressing optimism about the party's strength and unity despite current challenges.
