Labour Party Chairman Ombugu Alleges Life Threats in Nasarawa

Alexand Ombugu, the factional chairman of the Labour Party in Nasarawa State, has reported threats to his life, which he claims are connected to issues arising from the party's recent primary elections. Speaking to journalists in Lafia on Saturday, Ombugu requested that security agencies provide him with protection and conduct an investigation into the threats.

He refrained from naming the individuals he suspects are behind these threats, stating that it would be better to disclose this information to security agencies to avoid compromising the investigation. Ombugu expressed concern over the internal disputes within the Labour Party, warning that persistent disagreements among members could negatively impact the party's chances in the 2027 general elections.

He emphasized the need for unity among party members and called for discussions with stakeholders to resolve outstanding issues. Ombugu's wife reportedly expressed distress over the situation, indicating that rumors of potential attacks have already spread.
