Nasarawa State Prepares for National Health Meeting 2026

The Nasarawa State Government has constituted 12 sub-committees to prepare for the upcoming 76th regular National Council on Health meeting, which is scheduled to be held in Lafia in November 2026. The committees were inaugurated by Dr.

Gaza Gwamna, the Commissioner for Health, during an event in Lafia. This meeting will bring together health professionals and stakeholders from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Governor Abdullahi Sule will serve as the chairman of the central working committee for the National Council on Health meeting, which is the highest decision-making body for deliberating on health policies and programs. The establishment of the sub-committees aims to ensure adequate logistics, security, and accommodation for public medical services, facilitating a smooth hosting of the meeting.

The event is seen as a critical platform for making decisions that will improve healthcare delivery nationwide. Dr.

Ibrahim Alhassan, a member of the committee, noted that the meeting presents an opportunity to showcase the state's investment in healthcare infrastructure.
