Nasarawa APC Divided Over Governor Sule's Endorsement

The endorsement of Senator Aliyu Wadada by Governor Sule as the preferred candidate for the APC in the 2027 governorship election has led to significant division within the party in Nasarawa State. Stakeholders have accused Governor Sule of making this decision without adequate consultation.

Former governor Al-Makura, who received support from former Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu Abubakar during a campaign visit, expressed his discontent with the governor's choice. He emphasized the need for the party to conduct free and fair direct primaries, insisting that all aspirants should have an equal opportunity to participate.

Al-Makura stated that the party must adhere to democratic principles and ensure that the primaries are credible and transparent. He also acknowledged Governor Sule's right to endorse a candidate but stressed that it should not undermine the democratic process within the party.

The political landscape in Nasarawa State remains tense as various aspirants express their interest in the upcoming election.
