Senate Passes Fiscal Framework Amid Questions by Senator Natasha Akpoti

Natasha Akpoti, a senator representing Kogi Central, raised concerns during the Senate session regarding the government's proposal to support the private sector through fund allocation. The Senate approved the Medium-term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper for 2026-2028, with Minister Wale Edun presenting the government's fiscal outlook.

Akpoti sought clarity on the source of funds and criteria for private sector access. The Senate also approved an oil benchmark of $64.85 per barrel for the fiscal year 2026.

Senator Moham Sani Musa chaired the committee overseeing the approval process.
