Akume, Adesina Among 30 Recognized as Nigeria's Heroes

The Daily Times of Nigeria has announced that Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and Dr Akinwumi Adesina, former President of the African Development Bank, are among 30 individuals recognized as Nigeria's heroes. This recognition is part of the Times Heroes Award, which honors contributions to national development across public service, politics, business, and entrepreneurship.

Bolaji Okusaga, Chairman of the DTN@100 Heroes Awards Council, revealed the names during a press briefing in Abuja, with the award ceremony scheduled for Thursday. Akume will be recognized for his extensive public service career, while Adesina will receive the Global Impact Award and deliver the keynote address.

The selection process involved nominations and verification of achievements, and future ceremonies will recognize additional honorees. The initiative aims to document 100 Nigerians in the Nigeria Grand Book, reflecting the country’s development history from 1914 to the present.
