National Theatre to Host Children's Musical on May 30, 2026

The National Theatre in Lagos is set to host a large-scale children's musical production titled "Wish Wish: Battle of the Wind" on May 30, 2026, as part of the celebrations for Children's Day. This production is created by a children's theatre company that emphasizes proud African roots and is scheduled to feature two shows expected to attract a combined audience of 6,000.

According to a statement released on Monday, the musical will draw from Central African mythology, utilizing immersive stagecraft and design to create a fantastical world inspired by African storytelling traditions. The narrative follows mythic characters led by Grandma Wura, who guides children in a battle against the forces of nature.

The production will include high-quality visual effects, makeup, costumes, and a live score, transforming the main bowl of the National Theatre into a fully realized theatrical universe. Mr.
