Nigerian Navy Launches Exercise Littoral Fury in Cross River

The Nigerian Navy has commenced its first intra-command maritime tactical live-firing exercise, named Exercise Littoral Fury, in Cross River State. This initiative, organized by the Eastern Naval Command, aims to bolster the Navy's operational capacity to combat piracy, sea robbery, illegal oil bunkering, and crude oil theft.

Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, represented by Rear Admiral Patrick Effah, emphasized the importance of marksmanship and operational efficiency in maritime security. Effah urged participants to adhere to safety regulations and highlighted the exercise's role in honing skills necessary for protecting Nigeria's maritime interests.

Rear Admiral Chiedozie Okehie, the Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern Naval Command, noted that the exercise would expose personnel to realistic operational scenarios and enhance rapid response capabilities to maritime threats. The choice of Ikang for the exercise was strategic due to its unique operational challenges.

The Cross River State Government, represented by Navy Commander Patrick Bassey Odiong (retd.), expressed support for the initiative, recognizing the significance of securing the state's waterways for economic development.
