Nigerian Navy Rescues and Transfers Trafficking Victims

The Nigerian Navy has reaffirmed its commitment to combating human trafficking by handing over two rescued victims to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). The handover occurred on July 19, 2026, at NAPTIP’s Lagos Zonal Command in Ikeja, following the victims' rescue during a targeted operation on July 17, 2026.

The victims were processed according to established procedures, including comprehensive documentation and biometric capture at the Western Naval Command Maritime Crime Investigation Desk before their transfer to NAPTIP for rehabilitation and further investigation. The Navy emphasized the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals and enhancing collaboration with other security agencies to dismantle trafficking networks.

This operation reflects the Navy's ongoing efforts to safeguard Nigeria's maritime and territorial corridors from organized crime while ensuring the dignity of vulnerable persons. The Navy plans to continue intelligence-driven operations to prevent human trafficking.
