Troops Arrest Two Suspects for Illegal Petroleum in Rivers

On April 14, 2023, at approximately 5:00 PM, troops from the Nigerian Army's Civilian Intervent Battalion VIII apprehended two suspects in Rivers State. The arrest occurred during a routine patrol in Ebocha, located in the Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area.

The suspects were found in possession of substances believed to be illegally refined petroleum products, specifically dual-purpose kerosene (DPK) and automotive gas oil (AGO), estimated at 100 liters and 150 liters, respectively. Following their apprehension, the suspects were immediately taken into custody and later handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal petroleum product handling in the region.
