NDDC Advocates Economic Diversification at NBA Conference

At the Nigeria Bar Association’s 66th Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), called for increased investment in agriculture and sustainable sectors to secure the Niger Delta's future. He emphasized that while oil has significantly contributed to national development, the region must not remain dependent on it indefinitely.

Ogbuku stressed the importance of data in resource control, stating that accurate information is essential for determining the region's entitlements. He identified agriculture as a key area for investment, which would enhance food security and create employment opportunities.

Paul Emerhana, a representative of the NDDC legal team, discussed the Commission's transition from “transaction to transformation,” highlighting initiatives like solar street-lighting projects and digital transformation efforts, including the automation of contract management processes. The NDDC is also investing in youth development by providing training in digital skills, aligning with the current administration's policy direction.
