NBA Condemns Sowore's Disruption at Abuja Court

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) issued a statement on Wednesday, condemning the conduct of former presidential candidate and activist Omoyele Sowore at the Federal High Court in Abuja. The incident occurred on Tuesday when Sowore allegedly disrupted courtroom decorum by attempting to address journalists inside the courtroom.

A video circulating online showed senior lawyer Musibau Adetunbi confronting Sowore, insisting that the courtroom was not an appropriate venue for a press briefing. The NBA, represented by its president Afam Osigwe, stated that while courtrooms are part of a democratic process and promote transparency, they must maintain discipline and respect for judicial authority.

Sowore reportedly entered the courtroom with individuals carrying recording equipment and attempted to hold a press conference despite his case not being listed for hearing. The NBA reaffirmed its commitment to uphold the dignity of the legal profession and the sanctity of judicial proceedings.
