Memphis Grizzlies Forward Brandon Clarke Dies at 29

Brandon Clarke, a forward for the Memphis Grizzlies, passed away at the age of 29. The Grizzlies released a statement expressing their heartbreak over the tragic loss, describing Clarke as an outstanding teammate and an even better person whose impact on the organization and the Memphis community will not be forgotten.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver also acknowledged Clarke's contributions, noting he was a beloved teammate and leader known for his passion and grit. Clarke was selected 21st overall in the 2019 NBA Draft and earned Rookie of the Year honors.

He signed a four-year, $50 million contract extension with the Grizzlies in 2022. However, he battled injuries during the recent season, playing only six games in the 2023-24 season.

His death comes six weeks after an arrest in Arkansas on charges including possession of a controlled substance and fleeing from a vehicle.
