Nigerian Staple Food Prices Decline Nationwide in October 2025

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released a report indicating a notable decrease in the prices of essential staple foods like rice, beans, garri, and tomatoes across Nigeria in October 2025. Prices for items such as local rice, brown beans, white garri, and loose tomatoes saw substantial drops year-on-year and month-on-month.

The improved harvest yields and increased market supply in various regions contributed to the decline in prices. Disparities in staple food prices were observed across Nigeria's 36 states, with Ogun State recording the highest average price for local rice and Imo State for brown beans.
