NCAA Suspends Services to 11 Airlines Over Debts

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended regulatory services to Air Peace, Ibom Air, and nine other airlines due to unpaid debts. This decision, communicated in an internal memo dated May 22, 2026, instructs the NCAA to cease providing services to these airlines until they settle their outstanding obligations and reach a repayment agreement with the authority.

The affected airlines include Arik Air, United Nigeria Airlines, Max Air, Caverton Helicopters, Overland Airways, Rano Air, Valuejet, NG Eagle, and Umza Air. The memo highlights growing concerns within the aviation sector regarding the non-remittance of statutory charges collected by airlines on behalf of the NCAA.

These charges include a five percent ticket sale charge and cargo sale charge, which are expected to be remitted to support safety, regulatory training, and oversight activities within the aviation industry. The memo, signed by Director of Finance Olufemi Odukoya, directs that no services be rendered to the listed airlines without financial clearance.
