NCAA Suspends 'No Pay, No Service' Directive for Airlines

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) announced a temporary suspension of its "No Pay, No Service" directive, which was aimed at enforcing payment from airlines with outstanding statutory remittances. This decision was made in light of ongoing consultations and the rising costs of aviation fuel affecting airline operations across Nigeria.

The NCAA clarified that this suspension does not equate to a waiver or forgiveness of debts, and airlines are still required to settle their outstanding statutory obligations. The NCAA emphasized its commitment to ensuring compliance and operational stability within the aviation sector.

AEGIS Airlines criticized the directive, stating it misrepresents the financial status of its members and highlighted that no domestic airline in Nigeria receives regulatory services without full payment of invoices issued by the NCAA. Furthermore, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved a 30% discount on outstanding fees owed by domestic airlines to mitigate the impact of high jet fuel costs on the aviation sector.
