NCAA Warns Airlines to Comply with Montreal Convention

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) issued a warning to airlines operating in Nigeria to comply with the Montreal Convention of 1999, which is incorporated into the Civil Aviation Act of 2022. The Montreal Convention aims to modernize and standardize rules governing international air travel, particularly regarding airline liability in cases of passenger injury, baggage loss, and flight delays.

The NCAA emphasized that domestic operators must adhere to the provisions of the Montreal Convention and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations to protect passenger rights. Failure to comply may result in heavy penalties for airlines.
