NCC Launches TRIMS to Enhance Digital Security in Nigeria

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced the introduction of a new regulatory framework known as the Telecommunications Risk Management System (TRIMS) to improve security within the nation's digital ecosystem. Dr.

Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, disclosed this initiative during a stakeholder forum in Abuja. The TRIMS platform is designed to provide a uniform approach to managing risks associated with the integration and utilization of registered mobile phone numbers (MSISDNs) across Nigeria's communication networks.

This initiative aims to address the increasing challenges of financial fraud and identity theft, which have eroded public trust in digital platforms. Olatokunbo Oyeleke, the Director of Cybersecurity at the NCC, emphasized the importance of digital trust in a modern economy, noting that without it, the growth of the sector would be hindered.

The TRIMS platform is expected to enhance the security of financial transactions and access to essential services across various sectors of the economy.
