NCDMB Engages Chinese Manufacturers to Enhance Oil Sector

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is actively engaging more than 100 Chinese original equipment manufacturers to attract investment, technology, and manufacturing capacity into Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. Austin Uzoka, Director of Project Certification and Authorisation Division and Senior Technical Adviser to the Executive Secretary, represented Executive Secretary Felix Ogbe at the 15th China Shale Oil and Gas Summit in Chengdu, China.

Uzoka emphasized the board's goal to evolve the relationship with Chinese manufacturers from a conventional buyer-seller model to one focused on investment, technology transfer, and integration into global supply chains. He noted that the Nigerian Oil and Gas Content Development Act ensures patronage for local manufacturing facilities, which could also open opportunities across the Gulf of Guinea.

The NCDMB is promoting the Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme as a platform for establishing manufacturing operations in Nigeria, aiming for technology transfer and integration of local businesses into Chinese supply chains. Uzoka highlighted China's capabilities in manufacturing and engineering as beneficial for Nigeria's industrial development.
