NDC Launches Nationwide Congresses for 2026 Convention

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has commenced its maiden nationwide congresses as a significant step in its internal democratic process ahead of its first national convention, which is set for May 9, 2026. Abdulmumin Abdulsalam, the Deputy National Public Secretary of the party, announced the rollout of activities across the country.

The congresses at the ward and polling unit levels are scheduled for May 1 and 2, with local government congresses taking place on May 4. The party's activities will culminate in the national convention in Abuja on May 9, 2026.

The NDC is finalizing its leadership structure in preparation for the convention, which will be monitored by relevant Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials to ensure compliance with electoral mandates and security protocols. Abdulsalam expressed confidence in the party's leadership to conduct the congresses in accordance with established guidelines and the party's constitution.
