NDC Schedules Primaries for May 29, 2026

The Nigeria Democrat Congress (NDC) has officially set May 29, 2026, as the date for its nationwide primaries, which will include presidential, national assembly, governorship, and state assembly elections. This announcement was made by the party's national chairman, Mose Cleopa, and the national secretary, Ikenna Alex Morgan Enekweizu.

The party has indicated that all necessary preparations are being made, including consultations with security agencies and adjustments to accommodate potential logistical challenges arising from the Eid el-Kabir holiday. The NDC has emphasized that no state agency, including the police, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), or Department of State Services (DSS), is expected to play an active role in the primaries scheduled for May 29.

The party has warned against any actions outside the approved guidelines, labeling such actions as unauthorized and illegal. Furthermore, the NDC has urged its members and aspirants to conduct themselves peacefully and has reiterated its zero tolerance for violence and disorderly conduct.
