NDC Schedules National Convention for May 9, 2026

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially set May 9, 2026, for its national convention, a key event in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections. This decision was communicated in a letter dated April 15, 2026, addressed to the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The letter was signed by NDC National Chairman Cleopa Mose Zuwogh and National Secretary Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu. The party has outlined a detailed schedule for its congresses, starting with ward congresses on May 1, 2026, followed by local government congresses on May 2, state congresses on May 4, and zonal congresses on May 6.

The NDC emphasized the importance of adhering to due process and internal democracy, urging INEC to deploy officials to monitor the various stages of the electoral process.
