Dickson Critiques OK Movement's Presidential Campaign Council

Senator Seriake Dickson, the national leader of the Democratic Congress (NDC), condemned the Obidient-Kwankwaso (OK) Movement for creating a 59-member presidential campaign council, labeling the action as "nonsensical" and a violation of the intended role of support groups. This criticism followed a meeting of NDC stakeholders on September 22, 2026.

The OK Movement, which supports NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi and his running mate, unveiled the council on September 17, naming John Ughulu as director-general and Saadatu Sani as secretary. Two days after the announcement, the NDC publicly rejected the council, deeming it unauthorized and urging the public to disregard it.

In response, the OK Movement asserted that it did not need approval from NDC officials for its organizational activities. Dickson emphasized that support groups should assist rather than rival the party, citing that similar groups in other major parties had not attempted such actions.

Despite the conflict, he expressed openness to collaboration with support groups, including those aligned with the Obidient movement.
