Enugu NDC Rejects Candidate List by Nwodo and Oha

The Enugu State executive committee of the Nigerian Democratic Party (NDC) has rejected a list of candidates submitted by Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo and Dr.

Chinyeaka Oha, who are accused of trying to impose their preferred candidates for the upcoming NDC primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections. Nwodo, a former governor of Enugu State, and Oha, a retired federal permanent secretary, were warned that their actions could undermine the party's hierarchy and jeopardize its electoral prospects.

The committee expressed concerns that the primaries could be hijacked by selfish interests, risking the party's ability to secure electoral positions in the 2027 elections. The group emphasized the need for due process in announcing primary winners and cautioned against any attempts to impose candidates that do not reflect the popular vote.

The youth wing of the NDC raised alarms about the influence of Nwodo on the party's internal affairs, asserting that such actions threaten the democratic choice of party members.
