Enugu NDC Primary: Allegations of Manipulation Emerge

The primary elections of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in Enugu State have been marred by allegations of manipulation, as aspirants from a faction led by Ibuchukwu Obetta voiced their concerns. Reports indicate that candidates waited for hours without officials arriving at various venues, leading to frustration and claims of malpractice.

David William, an aspirant, announced his withdrawal from the process, citing these alleged manipulations. Mathia Ezeaku, another candidate, claimed victory in the primary for the Igbo Etiti/Uzo Uwani federal constituency, despite officials reportedly taking away result sheets.

Videos circulating online show supporters chanting in favor of Ezeaku, while Prof. Abuku allegedly fled with results.

Additionally, former Enugu State Governor Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo submitted a list of preferred candidates, which has faced criticism for favoring certain individuals, including Princ Ada Ogbu for governorship and others for senatorial positions.

The situation reflects ongoing tensions within the NDC as the primary exercise unfolds.
