NDC Reaffirms Mai Riga as Kano State Chairman Amid Dispute

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has resolved a leadership dispute within its Kano State chapter by reaffirming Husaini Isah Mai Riga as the chairman. The conflict arose when former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso attempted to challenge Mai Riga's leadership, leading to tensions among party members.

Mai Riga resisted these attempts to unseat him, asserting that he would not relinquish his position without due process. The standoff prompted the party's national leadership to convene a special meeting on Tuesday, chaired by Senator Seriake Dickson, which included Kwankwaso and NDC Northwest Vice Chairman Muhammad Sabo Bakin Zuwo.

The resolution affirmed Mai Riga's position as chairman, with an agreement that Kwankwaso would retain a significant role within the party's leadership structure, receiving 60 percent of the leadership positions while Mai Riga maintains 40 percent. Mai Riga expressed gratitude for the support from the party's national leadership and the people of Kano during the dispute.
