NDC Resolves Kano Leadership Dispute, Affirms Mai Riga

The NDC has resolved a leadership dispute in Kano State by reaffirming Mai Riga as the chairman. This decision came after tensions arose within the party, particularly from the Kwankwasiyya movement led by former Kano State governor Engr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Members questioned Mai Riga's continued leadership, prompting him to resist attempts to unseat him and maintain his mandate, insisting he would not relinquish his position without due process. The standoff led the party's national leadership to convene a special meeting on Tuesday, chaired by Sen Seriak Henri Dickson, which included attendance from Kwankwaso and NDC Northwest Vice Chairman Engr Muhammad Sabo Bakin Zuwo.

The resolution affirmed Mai Riga's position as the Kano chairman, and it was agreed that Kwankwaso would retain his chairmanship position while Mai Riga expressed gratitude for the support from the national leadership and the people of Kano during the dispute, tendering an apology for any offense caused.
